                  Mission Statement

                  Delta Sigma Theta Foundation, Inc. was established in April, 1999 for the purpose of improving the quality of life for future generations by promoting and establishing educational, historical, cultural, and scholarship programs for youth, senior citizens and the homeless.

                  Our Purpose

                  A.    To engage in public service programs which promote and encourage high intellectual, cultural, and moral standards among residents of our community, with an emphasis on the homeless, senior citizens and youth (“intergenerational”) activities;

                  B.
                      To establish, foster and organize educational, historical and cultural programs that will provide meaningful intergenerational activities for our community and will instill values and respect for all citizens as well as improve the quality of life for future generations;

                  C.
                      To raise funds to purchase and maintain property(s) and/or facility(s) in which to carry out the objectives and programs stated above;

                  D.
                        To solicit, collect, receive and administer funds exclusively for services for the homeless, senior citizens and youth, scholarships, cultural, historical and any other purposes as permitted for organizations defined in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, as amended, all for the public welfare and, to that end, to take and to hold, by bequest, gift, purchase, or lease, either absolutely or in trust, for any of the aforementioned purposes, any property: real, personal, or mixed, without limitation as to amount or value, except such limitations hereinafter provided and as may be imposed by law;

                  E.
                      To sell, convey, and dispose of any such property and to invest and reinvest the principal thereof, and to deal with and expend the income and assets of the Corporation in such manner as in the judgment of the members will best promote its objectives and purposes, without limitation, except such limitations, if any, that may be contained in the instrument under which such property is received; and

                  F.   To exercise any, all and every power which is consistent with the purposes described above and which is a non-profit Corporation organized under the provisions of the Michigan Profit Corporation Act can be authorized to exercise, but not any other power.
